The Montana Department of Revenue administers nearly 40 state taxes, oversees property appraisals, and regulates alcohol, cannabis, and unclaimed property programs. The Cannabis and Alcohol Regulation Division enforces regulatory laws, distributes distilled spirits, and promotes responsible use of alcohol and cannabis.

DUTIES

This position resides in the Department of Revenue. The Division Administrator provides leadership and direction for the Liquor Licensing and Distribution and the Cannabis Control programs. Responsibilities include program planning, supervision of management and support staff, policy interpretation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This position reports to the Department Director and directly supervises assigned staff.

• Government structure, accounting principles, and funding requirements
• Legislative and administrative rulemaking processes
• Compliance standards and customers service best practices
• Agency policies, procedures, employment law and supervisor practices
• Project and records management

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications

REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite; however the successful candidate must be a primary resident of Montana as a condition of employment. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program. Fulltime telework is not available.

Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Working Conditions
• Work hours may exceed 40 hours from time to time, including weekends.
• Office environment.
• Lifting is infrequent, less than 15 pounds.
• Some travel may be required, must have a valid driver's license.

Successful applicants are required to successfully pass DOR tax and background checks.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

The minimum level needed on the first day of work is
• Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, accounting, economics, political science, criminal justice, human resources or closely related field.
• At least eight years of relevant work experience, including three years in a senior management role.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
