Director, Digital User Experience UX

As a member of the Internet Services (IS) Leadership Team, the Director of Digital Experience serves as the product manager to support the digital delivery of banking products via Web Branch, our mobile app, and our sales and new account platform. In partnership with the VP of Digital Technology, the Director will be responsible for setting the digital product strategy that aligns with UWCU’s purpose and business goals. In addition, this role is also responsible in leading a team of highly skilled UX professionals to continuously understand and translate consumer expectations into highly usable and engaging digital experiences.

The Director of Digital Experience combines creativity and analytical thinking to lead their team in identifying solutions where technology, business, and user needs intersect. They will regularly partner with other areas of the business include Software Engineering Leadership, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure UWCU standards are upheld in the product development and delivery of design work.

This is a hybrid position based in Madison, WI.

Responsibilities

Digital Experience Strategy & Excellence – 25%
• In collaboration with the VP of Digital Technology, set long term digital product strategy to direct the prioritization of large product enhancements and business initiatives.
• Interpret analytics, user research and market trends to prepare reports and recommendations to inform long term digital product strategy.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry trends and evaluate relevance to UW Credit Union.
• Direct user experience design and user interface development.
• Direct strategies for user research processes, methodologies, and testing, to support the creation of highly usable and useful interfaces.
• Collaborate with the Director of Software Engineering and other Internet Services leaders to provide alignment to the Internet Services team across all tracks, including operations, product management, user experience, quality assurance, development operations and engineering.
• Partner with the VP of Digital Technology on business planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Digital Product Management – 25%
• Serve as the product manager for the digital delivery of UW Credit Union’s banking products.
• Advocate for the prioritization of digital member experience refinements and improvements that support our digital product strategy throughout the organization.
• Evaluate the purpose and performance of each product to ensure alignment with company goals and viability in the marketplace.
• Manage prioritization of bugs and other product enhancements in coordination with the digital delivery strategy.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of our members and potential members.
• Conduct research and analysis of product performance and create action plans to optimize performance.
• Direct efforts to collect and synthesize quantitative data on the use and performance of our digital products using data from web analytics systems and internal databases.
• Direct Internet Services leadership on prioritization, project planning, and resource management to support our digital products.

Cross Functional Leadership, Collaboration and Consulting – 25%
• As a member of the Leadership Team, participate in strategic planning, annual improvement plans and CU-wide budgeting and resource allocation.
• Maintain high level of awareness of emerging digital experience trends in financial services. Provide recommendations to VP of Digital Technology and other business units on new approaches that can help achieve business goals.
• Collaborate with Marketing on our digital experience when it comes to brand, our voice, visuals, and on-screen text to convey functionality or persuade for sales. Act as the key consultant on the public site for usability/interaction design, information architecture, digital presentation, and CMS functionality.
• Collaborate with Project Services on project analysis, vendor relationships, resource scheduling, project execution and meeting project goals.
• Consult and collaborate with business units on digital experience solutions to meet business goals, solve problems or refine processes. Serve as the digital product and experience lead for business initiative projects.
• Drive the launch of new digital products and features by building cross-functional partnerships across the organization, and consulting with business leaders.
• Participate in projects and initiatives across functional and organizational lines.
• Assist others in the organization as appropriate to foster teamwork and quality of service.

Qualifications
• 10+ years experience in software product management, product and service design, and user experience design required.
• Management experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, public relations, statistics, advertising, business management or related field required.
• Expert knowledge of digital product management.
• Expert knowledge of research, analysis, problem solving, design and delivery of digital products.
• Expert knowledge of analytics and user research.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of graphic design tools is preferred.
• Understanding of financial product and service delivery is preferred.
• Agile project management methodology experience is preferred.
• Experience in large scale enterprise-wide projects.
• Experience in front-end web development and E-Commerce web site management.
• Expertise in research, analysis, problem solving, design and delivery of software solutions.
• Experience managing/coaching user experience staff including developers, product managers, user researchers.
• Ability to positively interface with management, employees, corporate staff, and outside partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to write clear, concise documentation and communications, facilitate staff meetings, and give presentations.
