Director, Data Science - Remote Opportunity

As a key member of our team, you will drive the development of innovative data solutions, provide strategic analysis, and deliver strong forecasts and analytics to support informed decision-making. The Risk Finance group, under Corporate Planning (CP&A), is responsible for planning, forecasting, and evaluating global Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. As Director, Data Science, you will lead the development of centralized reporting capabilities, implement process enhancements and automation, and drive revolutionary data solutions to support the wider Risk Finance organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead strategic analysis of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance
Own and manage data assets/packages within Risk Finance, and become a power user of applicable tools
Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports for Risk Finance and business partners, providing credit-related analytical support
Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management
Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, and more
Provide decision-support with a strong emphasis on developing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio to optimize Business and Risk decisions
Required Qualifications:
Advanced experience working with SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, and TM1
Experience working with a high level of Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in ML modeling is a plus
Solid financial and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and draw meaningful conclusions
Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills
Must be results-driven and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work within tight timelines
Desire to work on ambiguous projects, creating clarity while driving successful and meaningful outcomes
A strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships and collaborate with team members to achieve goals
Master's degree in advanced mathematics or statistical discipline
