About the Role
We are seeking a Product Designer Contractor to join the Merchant Design team at DoorDash, focusing on projects for the Merchant Finance, Tax, and Reporting team. This role is ideal for a seasoned designer who thrives in complex problem spaces and is passionate about creating seamless experiences that support merchants in managing and growing their businesses.
You'll lead impactful design initiatives that streamline financial and reporting processes for merchants, collaborating with cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Research, and Analytics to deliver high-quality, intuitive user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end design efforts across multiple products-crafting user flows, wireframes, interactions, and final UI.
• Drive strategy and execution for complex, ambiguous problem spaces by identifying opportunities and validating solutions with data.
• Apply both quantitative metrics and qualitative insights to iteratively improve designs.
• Present design thinking clearly in reviews and workshops to gather feedback and move ideas forward.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to shape product strategy and ensure seamless execution.
• Guide engineers through implementation to ensure design quality is upheld throughout development.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer.
• Demonstrated ability to lead product design work from discovery to implementation in cross-functional teams.
• Strong proficiency in Figma and comfort working with design systems.
• Experience designing complex workflows, preferably in finance, data visualization, tax, or reporting tools.
• Ability to simplify complexity through intuitive, high-quality design.
• Detail-oriented with a keen eye for visual polish and interaction design.
• Self-starter with excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills
• Experience working with financial data and reporting products.
• Comfortable using data (user insights, analytics) to guide decisions.
• Skilled in designing and presenting prototypes at various levels of fidelity.
• Ability to quickly adopt new tools and workflows.
