DESCRIPTION:
Responsibility for the ongoing support, maintenance, performance and uptime of corporate data center facilities.
Ensures efficient installation, operation and maintenance for communication cabling, electrical, mechanical, life safety and physical back-up systems.
Manages vendor relationships, provides financial reporting and plans for infrastructure growth.
SKILLS:
5-7 years of experience
Advanced experience with data center cooling, power, UPS, fire suppression, structured cabling and racking systems
Maintains and updates data center assets and network connections within a data center infrastructure management system (CORMANT)
Responsible for setting up monitoring/alerts, testing and responding to alerts from key systems, including power, fire suppression systems, HVAC, and UPS
Works with Infrastructure Engineers and vendors to resolve service issues and escalates issues as required
Practical knowledge of Change Management frameworks such as ITIL
Service contract negotiation skills
Understanding of information security
Knowledge of green IT initiatives
Strong knowledge of cabling standards and limitations
Ability to engage property management and facilities management on building related issues
Documentation and process control knowledge
Mentors and educates other colleagues on data center procedures and standards. Ensures that other colleagues adhere to the procedures and standards.
