About arenaflex and the Data Engineering Team

The arenaflex Decision Science and Insights (DDSI) team is responsible for supporting clients across the entire arenaflex organization, including our Parks, Experiences, and Products segment, which encompasses both domestic and international Parks and Resorts, Consumer Products, and arenaflex Park Experiences. We also support the arenaflex Entertainment segment, which includes Studios Content, General Entertainment Content, and ESPN and Sports Content.

At arenaflex, we leverage technology, data analysis, optimization, and statistical and econometric modeling to uncover opportunities, shape business decisions, and drive measurable business value. Our Data Engineering team is the backbone of this operation, working closely with Decision Science Products, Decision Science, Client, and Technology colleagues on various development and sustainment projects, ad-hoc requests, prototyping, and research initiatives.

We're currently seeking a skilled Data Engineer to manage the development and sustainment of products for our Media business. This role will involve a wide range of data engineering activities, including maintaining and improving data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process monitoring strategies.

What You'll Do

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be at the heart of our data operations. Your responsibilities will include:


Data Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data pipeline development.
Source-to-Target Mapping: Design and document data flow mappings from source systems to target databases, ensuring data integrity and consistency throughout the pipeline.
Data Validation Scripting and Review: Develop and maintain robust data validation scripts to ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness across all data assets.
Data Visualization: Create meaningful data visualizations and dashboards that help business users understand complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
ETL/ELT Pipeline Development and Monitoring: Design, develop, and maintain efficient ETL/ELT data pipelines that process large volumes of data reliably and performantly.
Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and indexes that support our data processing needs and ensure optimal query performance.
Dataset Preparation: Prepare and deliver datasets as input for data science models and visualizations, ensuring data is properly formatted and validated.
Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to improve data processing efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance overall data quality.

SQL (Snowflake and PostgreSQL): For data querying, manipulation, and database management
Python: For data processing, scripting, and automation
Docker: For containerization and application deployment
GitLab: For version control and collaborative development
Cloud Platforms: For cloud-based data processing and storage solutions


What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:


Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees are a plus)
Professional Experience: 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and sustainment
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience using Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses
Development Environment Experience: Experience with multi-environment development (Dev, QA, Staging, Production) and DevOps practices for code deployment and management
Automation Skills: Experience developing and maintaining automated workflow schedulers
Database Knowledge: Strong understanding of relational database design, including normalization, indexing, and query optimization


Preferred Qualifications

Big Data Experience: Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, ideally with AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Version Control Mastery: Experience managing and deploying code using source control systems like GitLab/GitHub
Containerization Skills: Hands-on experience with Docker for application packaging and deployment
Real-time Processing: Experience with real-time data processing frameworks and streaming data architectures
Data Modeling: Advanced skills in dimensional modeling and data warehousing best practices
