Job Description:Location: Fully remote, Central Europe Time ZoneStart date: To be definedLanguages: English is mandatoryThe job involves providing technical support capacity to data center facilities and infrastructure globally. The candidate will help manage and maintain data center environments and assist with infrastructure configuration, and troubleshoot technical issues related to equipment and systems. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to executing data center projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.Duties and Responsibilities:Data Center support and Infrastructure Administrator Managing and maintaining Data center facility and systems, hardware and hosted infrastructure and systems Supporting the resolution of issues related to Data Center environments and hosted infrastructure and systemsImplementing changes related to DC environment and hosted infrastructure and systemsParticipating in different implementation activities related to Data Center solutions and hosted technologiesDeveloping Data Center improvements initiatives following the best practices and standardsAdministrator role is expected to perform some technician level tasks.Providing guidance to junior administratorsData Center support:Support the onsite data center and facilities including cabling of both data and power connections as well as maintain the Data Center ancillaries inside the rack (patching)Perform physical installation and de-installation of equipment, management and maintenance of cabling plant both fibre and copper, racks, PDUs; perform standard maintenance tasks and work instructions as per documented proceduresMaintain the data center environmental conditions such as heating and cooling systems to ensure they are operational and can meet equipment temperature conditionsInfrastructure support:Participate in the installation and configuration of the infrastructure equipment, server hardware and network using the standard configuration and template as well as the resolution (incident and problem) of infrastructure related issues and requests Participate in the documentation and reporting for infrastructure operations as well as maintain accurate system configuration such as Asset Management, tools and physical inventory and any other documentations as requiredMaintain the housekeeping and stock management of materials and supplies (cables, parts, tools, etc.)Keep up to date documentation and inventory of equipment, tools, asset management (cabling layout, equipment layout, etc.)Liaise with UNICC technical teams and external providers on various support activities, equipment deliveries and inventory, receive and inspection with vendors as required including escorting visits to the Data CenterOther: The incumbent may be requested to provide support during weekends, holidays or outside working hours as well as to serve as stand-by personnel on a rotation basisRequired Qualifications & ExperienceRelevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise data center environments and related services in a complex, heterogeneous environment.Expertise in data center related standards i.e. ANSI/TIA/BICSI and best practices as well as environmental controls.Demonstrated knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Operations and strong understanding of underlying DC components such as HVAC, racks, connectivity, power and structured cabling systemGood working knowledge of Data Center hardware (i.e. servers and components, Network devices, appliances, backup hardware)Good technical knowledge and understanding of industry cable test procedures and equipment for a variety of different cabling systems (Copper/Fibre test equipment, OTDR, Network analyser, etc.) including in-depth understanding of Cat 5e/6 and OM3/4 OS2 fiber optic cabling systemsFamiliarity in configuring network equipment such as Cisco switches and other network devices including knowledge of network protocols e.g., TCP/IP and virtualization technologies. Experience in automation to streamline processes.such as API management, DCIM tools and basic understanding Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and scripting is an advantageWorking knowledge of ISO2000 Service Management Standards and other service management standards and best practicesAbility to read and understand blueprints and Data Center technical documentationGood knowledge of Data Center and network management toolsEducation and Certifications:Completion of technical degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.Relevant certifications related to abovementioned solutions and technologies are highly desirable e.g. Data Center, Dell, HP, Cisco, ITIL and ISOOriginally posted on Himalayas
