Company Description OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (OurNationalConversation.org, or ONC for short) is a nonpartisan political conversation site devoted to balanced and civil conversations designed to make America a better country. Republicans, Democrats and Independents –all are all welcome at ONC. Our motto: “less hate, more debate.” We are largely powered by Gen Z students – America’s future leaders – who produce articles, events, podcasts and more. Experienced professionals mentor our students. Though many applaud our mission, OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION is not well-known. It’s time to change that. We need to add more excitement to our mix. Our students tend to be very earnest policy wonks – kinda dry – and we need to do more to produce content that can go viral. Both types of content are complementary and compatible Job Description We are looking for 3-4 drama, theater and debate major types. We want them to the “the face” of ONC and act out short videos and other content. We need creative writers to back them up by providing them with material, jokes, scripts. If you can handle both roles, all the better. This is something one of our interns, Megan Amato, used to do. It’s called “Explain That to Me Again?” It was quite good and generated a lot of traffic. Another intern, Sam Taylor, used to dress up like Uncle Sam and ask a question of the day: 4703 We are looking for a scriptwriter to support our new Uncle Sam. We’re also looking for a new Uncle Sam; if you can pull double duty, all the better. In addition to our ideas, we want your ideas. We are looking for new creative energy coming from those who understand a “Saturday Night Live” vibe (only we want to be equal opportunity offenders, poking clean fun at liberals, moderates and conservatives alike). There is no pay at this time. That said, you WILL get excellent hands-on experience and the chance to really build your resume. Who knows? Maybe this will be your big break. We won’t know till we try. Be ready to commit to four to 10 hours a week. We are completely remote and use Slack, Google Drive and Zoom to communicate. There are two, one-hour mandatory meetings each week. We operate on a semester basis; if you can commit to at least two or three semesters, that’s a big plus.
