About the position

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. Anthropic is seeking an experienced contract Legal Recruiter to join our G&A recruiting team on a contract basis. In this role, you’ll partner closely with leaders across our Legal organization that shapes how Anthropic operates and delivers on its mission. This role requires someone who can assess not just legal domain expertise, but also alignment with our values and the adaptability required to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll need to hit the ground running — we’re looking for a contractor who can own a pipeline from day one with minimal ramp.

Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end recruiting for Legal roles across the organization, including commercial counsel, product counsel, regulatory/privacy counsel, litigation, paralegals, and legal operations
• Develop and execute strategic recruiting plans, including law firm and in-house competitive mapping, targeted sourcing, and building long-term talent pipelines for hard-to-fill legal specialties
• Build trusted partnerships with Legal leadership to understand business priorities, team structures, ideal candidate profiles, and required competencies across different legal practice areas
• Create exceptional candidate experiences that showcase Anthropic’s mission, growth trajectory, and the unique opportunity for legal professionals to work at the frontier of AI
• Design and implement scalable recruiting processes that effectively assess legal domain expertise, business judgment, and cultural alignment
• Track recruiting metrics and use data to identify bottlenecks, optimize processes, and maintain a high-quality hiring bar
• Coach hiring managers on recruiting best practices, structured interview techniques, and strategies for building diverse, high-performing legal teams

Requirements
• Have 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience with meaningful exposure to legal hiring and understand the legal talent market
• Are comfortable working as a contractor in ambiguous, high-growth environments — you self-direct, ramp quickly, and help hiring teams build structure rather than waiting for it
• Have strong stakeholder management skills — you can share examples of frameworks you’ve built that drive hiring while coaching legal hiring managers to improve their recruiting
• Are highly organized with strong attention to detail — you stay on top of data integrity and maintain regular touch points with candidates and hiring managers
• Are comfortable analyzing recruiting data and can connect key metrics to monitor recruiting health and maintain a great hiring experience
• Are passionate about AI’s potential to positively impact the world while understanding its risks and limitations
• We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Benefits
• competitive compensation and benefits
• optional equity donation matching
• generous vacation and parental leave
• flexible working hours
• a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues
