Job Title: Contract Grant Accountant (Remote – As Needed) Company: MENKE Inc. – Little Red Wagon Daycare Location: Jacksonville, IL (Remote Contract Position) Job Type: 1099 Contract | Remote | As Needed / Project-Based Compensation: $30–$40/hour, depending on experience and licensure About Us Little Red Wagon Daycare (MENKE Inc.) is a licensed early childhood education provider operating ISBE-funded Preschool for All (PFA) and Prevention Initiative (PI) programs. We are seeking a qualified contract accountant to support grant-specific financial reporting requirements for our state-funded programming. This is a flexible, as-needed position limited to financial tracking, documentation, and reporting related to ISBE PI and PFA Early Childhood Block Grants. The role is remote and ideal for someone experienced in state grant compliance who is looking for periodic freelance work. Key Responsibilities • Prepare, track, and organize financial documentation for ISBE Early Childhood Block Grant reports (PFA and PI) • Ensure proper allocation of expenses and accurate reporting for grant audits • Maintain organized records of monthly, quarterly, and annual grant-related expenditures • Complete any required budget amendment forms, payment schedules, or financial attachments required by ISBE • Collaborate with the Executive Director and program leadership to ensure grant funds are used in compliance with ISBE guidelines • Provide supporting documentation and summaries for required ISBE Annual Financial Reports and Mid-Year Reports • Maintain compliance with any fiscal guidance, audit standards, and documentation requirements outlined by ISBE Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required) • CPA license preferred • Prior experience working with ISBE grants or other Illinois government-funded programs strongly preferred • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and familiarity with public grant accounting • Ability to work independently and manage reporting deadlines without supervision • Comfortability with financial documentation systems including Excel-based and grant-specific formats Contract Details • Scope: ISBE PI and PFA grant financial reporting • Schedule: As needed, with variable hours (average 5–10 hours/month depending on reporting cycles) • Location: Remote • Compensation: $30–$40/hour based on experience and licensure To Apply: Please attach your resume summarizing your financial accounting/bookkeeping, Illinois early childhood grant reporting, or public grant compliance experience.
