Commercial Underwriter III- Health Systems & Public Finance

Remote Full-time
About the position

As a Commercial Underwriter III within PNC's Centralized Commercial Underwriting Group, you will play a critical role in the underwriting process for commercial loans, particularly focusing on healthcare systems and public finance. This position allows for remote work from specific locations including Raleigh, Chicago, Cleveland, Austin, or Philadelphia, providing flexibility while ensuring that you can operate from a quiet and confidential space. You will work independently with minimal oversight, exercising elevated approval authority and preparing loan offerings for a variety of transactions, regardless of their complexity. Your expertise will be essential in managing a portfolio and interacting with both internal and external customers, where you will serve as a subject matter expert for certain asset classes. In this role, you will utilize your independent judgment to identify risks and mitigants, preparing offerings and scorecards that include risk ratings by analyzing credit, collateral strength, and the financial worthiness of loan or transaction parties. You will also be responsible for ongoing credit risk management for your assigned portfolio, which may involve coaching and reviewing the work of other underwriters, as well as stepping in for the manager when necessary. Your responsibilities will include contacting customers and other parties to gather information, clarifying any inconsistencies, and ensuring compliance with all external regulatory requirements while adhering to internal policies and procedures. The position requires a university degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in commercial underwriting, with a strong emphasis on financial analysis and credit knowledge. While certifications are often desired, a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. PNC values customer focus and risk management, expecting employees to align their decisions with customer needs and the company's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
