Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.CMM SOURCE INSPECTOR - TRAVEL TX REGIONRESPONSIBILITIES:Travel up to 75% of the time to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies at supplier sitesSelect and utilize standard gauges to ensure qualityInspect feature tolerances by selecting the tool with the required accuracyPerform complex inspections on purchased mechanical parts, components, assemblies and materialsPerform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirementsInspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specificationsEnsure that all parts meet SpaceX specifications and standards or that any non-conformance is documented at the supplierSupport the development of inspection plans at suppliersSupport supplier corrective action process, including verifying corrective action implementationProvide support to both internal and external stakeholders on SpaceX requirements and inspection processesCollaborate with teams, lead projects, and drive continuous improvement of processes both internally and at our suppliersProgram and setup Articulating Arm (ex. Romer), CMMs to achieve the desired inspectionsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificate3+ years of precision mechanical inspection experience3+ years of CMM programming, CMM operations, or Faro Arm experiencePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Aerospace precision inspection experiencePractical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)CMM Programming with PC-DMIS softwareRomer Arm experience with Verisurf softwareBasic understanding of electronics inspection and propulsion valve operationSolid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and ExcelStatistical process control experienceAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and specification using ASME Y14.5. GDT and skillful use of metrology tools and gaugeSelf-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing priorities and tasks as delegatedADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassistedLifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this positionMust be able to travel - up to 75% work week travel may be requiredPosition may involve overtime, long hours and weekend work as needed with occasional overnight work may be required when traveling to suppliersFrequent travel to suppliers around Texas required, valid driver’s license mandatoryThis role requires you to be permanately based in Texas stateITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
