Job Summary of Class A Commercial Driver:
You play a crucial part in making certain that shipments are collected, tagged, loaded, and transported promptly. Your role involves driving a tractor-trailer unit to and from customer locations and utilizing Material Handling Equipment to load and unload freight efficiently. This position demands a blend of driving tasks and physical labor, requiring a CDL license and HazMat endorsement, as well as a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service. The job is fast-paced and might involve working different shifts, such as days, nights, and weekends.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Class A Commercial Driver:
Employ the essential tools to collect, designate, and move packages in line with UPS policies.
Operate a tractor-trailer unit to deliver items to various client sites and return to the starting location within a single shift.
Deploy Material Handling Equipment (MHE), like pallet handlers and stand-up forklifts, for the purpose of handling the loading and unloading of palletized goods.
Carry out the procedures of shipping, collecting, scanning, grouping, and replenishing parcels.
Ensure the safe and prompt delivery of packages to homes and businesses.
Maintain adherence to safety procedures during transportation and ensure packages are handled securely.
Uphold the UPS appearance standards by wearing the uniform that is supplied for the job.
Perform lifting tasks of up to 70 lbs when necessary in the workplace.
Offer exceptional customer service by making sure deliveries are completed promptly and accurately.
Maintain a flexible schedule that may include weekends to align with operational demands.
Qualifications and Experience of Class A Commercial Driver:
Possession of a legitimate CDL (Commercial Drivers License) issued in the state where you reside is required.
HazMat endorsement required.
Must pass a UPS road test, DOT physical (including a drug screen), and all necessary background checks.
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Proficiency developed in handling Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including pallet movers and forklifts, through practical experience.
Giving high importance to safety and compliance with delivery guidelines.
Aptitude to engage in work schedules that may include nights, weekends, and holiday shifts as required.
It is imperative for employees to adhere to UPSs standards for appearance and uniforms.
Proven track record of exceptional customer service paired with a priority on timely package arrivals.
Meeting the requirement of U.S. citizenship, Nationality, or authorized work status in the U.S. is essential for applicants.
