You will ensure that claims are processed within company policies, procedures, and individual prescribed authority with exceptional standards of performance. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities The following responsibilities are essential to this role: Claims Investigation: Investigate flood insurance claims through telephone, written correspondence, and/or personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses, and others having pertinent information. Claims Analysis: Analyze information to evaluate assigned claims and determine the extent of loss, taking into consideration FEMA regulations. Assign experts to cases when necessary. Customer Communication: Process elevated/complex calls and correspondence from insureds, claimants, and agents regarding questions or problems associated with claims. Interact with underwriters, customer service representatives, and agents on claim resolution. Claims Settlement: Evaluate, examine, and settle flood claims within delegated authority. Work with the Compliance Manager on litigation files and FEMA audits and appeals, which can include field re-inspections post-claim review. Flood System Updates: Update the Flood System on a continual basis to accurately reflect the status of each assigned file and ensure that adjusters are meeting FEMA requirements with a focus on regular reserve updates. Expense Management: Receive, review, and approve expert and legal expenses incurred to investigate, process, and handle a claim. Check Requisitions: Prepare check requisitions for all loss and expense payments. Salvage and Subrogation: Explore salvage and subrogation potential on all claims. Prepare for and participate in claims review and FEMA audits. Claims Closure: Close claims by issuing checks or denials and securing appropriate releases. Travel Requirements: Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within the territory. Car travel represents approximately 0-30% of the employee's time and a valid driver's license. Essential Qualifications The following qualifications are essential for this role: Flood Claims Experience: 7-10 years of flood claims experience. Claims Handling: Ability to handle all claims types, including RCBAP, GP, and Dwelling policies. Driver's License: Valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and ability to drive an automobile. Education: College degree preferred. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need: Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex information and make sound judgments. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Technical Skills: Proficiency in claims handling software and Microsoft Office.
