Business Development Associate – North America Payments

The Business Development Associate will focus on acquiring new business through proactive outbound prospecting, lead generation, and strategic engagement to accelerate commercial growth within the biller segment. Responsibilities Proactively source and qualify new leads via cold outreach, networking, and market research Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients across targeted industries and geographies Schedule and conduct introductory meetings to understand client needs and present tailored solutions Negotiate favorable contract terms with prospective clients Ensure seamless progression from contract execution to active transaction flow Collaborate with internal teams to expedite onboarding and remove activation barriers Monitor outreach activity, conversion rates, and pipeline metrics using CRM tools Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities Partner with marketing and product teams to refine messaging and support lead generation campaigns Skills 1–3 years in outbound sales, lead generation, or business development Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or related field preferred Skilled at leveraging CRM platforms to manage candidate leads, track pipeline progress, and maintain detailed records; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant technologies Experience with Market Research Tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator) Data Analysis & Reporting: Basic – interpret sales metrics and dashboards Excellent written and verbal communication skills Superior organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Self-starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Benefits Paid time off Medical, Dental and Life Insurance 401k match of 4% Student Loan Repayment Program Tuition Assistance Program Parental Leave Company Overview Western Union provides consumers and businesses with fast, reliable and convenient ways to send and receive money around the world.
