Azure Cloud Operations Engineer
About the position
Serves as subject matter expert on matters related to day-to-day cloud operations and implementation within Children's Healthcare of Atlanta system. Assists in deploying, implementing and testing systems. Assists in problem resolution for cloud deployments and is responsible for responding to tickets and systems alerts.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Designs and administers cloud deployments, including configuration of servers, workstations, virtual hosts, terminal servers, access servers, and third-party applications.
ā¢ Researches and makes recommendations for new products based on current and projected goals.
ā¢ Verifies cloud deployments and datacenters are run in accordance with guidelines set by upper management.
ā¢ Develops standards and documentation of cloud deployments and configurations.
ā¢ Responds to trouble tickets and systems alerts based on defined service level agreements.
ā¢ Acts as subject matter expert for cloud operations and cloud planning.
ā¢ Monitors and remediates scheduled system maintenance jobs proactively.
ā¢ Maintains current operating system/security patches and upgrades systems.
ā¢ Builds/provisions virtual machine templates and provisioning scripts.
ā¢ Audits all infrastructure operations technology daily processes, addresses any gaps, and validates any remediation is successfully implemented.
ā¢ Follows industry best practices in designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure operations systems/technologies.
ā¢ Follows, performs, and completes required change request processes and documentation.
ā¢ Plans cloud deployments and maintain documentation, including deployment scripts and cloud knowledgebase articles.
ā¢ Provides integrated systems planning, recommends new or different technologies to enhance current systems.
ā¢ Partners closely with other teams, program and project managers, infrastructure leaders, and application development teams to ensure a consistent approach to technology roadmap and information assets which process and store data.
ā¢ Works with developers and subject matter experts to establish technical standards for application design and technology, including web applications, mobile technology, cloud technology, and subscription services.
ā¢ Participates in P1 leadership escalation management when requested.
Requirements
ā¢ Must be local and able to work hybrid
ā¢ Cloud experience in Azure (required)
ā¢ Must have terraform experience
ā¢ Experience with AI tools
ā¢ 5 years of experience in a technical support position
ā¢ Experience managing cloud infrastructure in an enterprise environment
ā¢ Experience with scripting technologies such as Bash, Terraform, PowerShell, Ansible, Bicep or Azure Command Line Interface
ā¢ Experience with server virtualization technologies and their support technologies (e.g., Azure Stack HCI, VMware, Hyper-V, VRealize, SRM)
ā¢ Experience in an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) services framework
ā¢ Associate's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems, related field, or equivalent technical training and work experience
ā¢ Demonstrated ability to write, debug, and maintain Infrastructure as code (IaC), PowerShell and Azure CLI scripts
ā¢ Understanding of Azure networking services, including Virtual Networks, Azure Gateways, Azure vWan, S2S VPN and Azure ExpressRoute
ā¢ Knowledge of source control management, preferably with Git, and familiarity with branching strategies
ā¢ Understanding of cloud security principles and hands-on experience with Azure security tools like Azure Security Center, Azure Key Vault, Purview and Azure Firewall
ā¢ Ability to analyze and optimize cloud costs, using Azure Cost Management, billing or third-party tools
ā¢ Knowledge of cost-effective designing solutions without compromising on performance and reliability
ā¢ Ability to set up alerts and automate responses to support operational events
ā¢ Strong knowledge of Active Directory, EntraID, and other Windows server services
ā¢ Strong knowledge of Linux and AIX distributions
ā¢ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
ā¢ Strong documentation skills
ā¢ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ā¢ Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Nice-to-haves
ā¢ Experience in other cloud environments a plus
ā¢ Experience with ServiceNOW and Configuration Management Database CMDB is preferred
ā¢ Experience with Splunk and Azure Log analytics workspaces preferred
ā¢ Experience leading lunch and learns, workshops or other educational initiatives to spread knowledge and best practices related to cloud technologies
