Associate, Quantitative Research
BlackRock is a leading investment management firm, and they are seeking a highly quantitative and motivated Associate to join their Quantitative Investment Solutions team. The role involves contributing to quantitative strategy research, including building research infrastructure and managing back-tests and simulations for tax-managed investment strategies.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design, advancement, implementation, and maintenance of research infrastructure and tools to support quantitative research, investment strategy development and evaluationConduct backtesting and simulation of investment strategies, with a focus on tax-aware portfolio construction and risk modelingAnalyze large and complex datasets to extract insights and support research hypotheses, investment strategy validation, and strategy developmentCollaborate with senior researchers and portfolio managers to develop and refine systematic investment strategies, tax-managed optimizations, and portfolio management processesCreate clear and compelling visualizations and documentation to communicate research findings to internal stakeholders and external clientsContribute to the teamâs thought leadership by supporting the development of white papers, presentations, and internal knowledge sharingSkillsBachelor's degree in quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or EngineeringSubstantial programming experience in Python and excellent Excel skills; familiarity with data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, SciPy) are essential; experience with machine learning techniques is a plusDemonstrated experience working with large datasets and conducting empirical researchAt least 1 year of relevant industry work experience is preferred; quantitative portfolio management experience a plusExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiencesInterest in tax-aware investing, portfolio construction, and systematic strategiesExperience with financial modeling, optimization, or portfolio analyticsExperience with equity and option asset classesBenefitsAnnual discretionary bonusHealthcareLeave benefitsRetirement benefitsStrong retirement planTuition reimbursementComprehensive healthcareSupport for working parentsFlexible Time Off (FTO)Company OverviewBlackRock is an investment company that offers its services to institutions, intermediaries, foundations, and individual investors.
