With a hybrid work model, you will have the flexibility to work from home and in our mid-town Manhattan office (in-office 2 days per week). Position Overview As an Associate Publicist at Media Connect, you will play a crucial role in shaping the public image of our authors and their books. You will work closely with our team of experienced publicists to develop and implement publicity campaigns that exceed our clients' expectations. This is an entry-level position that requires 1 year of experience in public relations, communications, or a related field. Key Responsibilities Pitching and Media Relations: Pitch traditional and online media, securing features, reviews, interviews, and event opportunities for books across various genres. Crafting Compelling Press Materials: Develop press releases, pitch letters, and media kits that showcase the unique aspects of each book and author. Author Events and Appearances: Coordinate author events, virtual appearances, and book signings to help authors connect with their audience. Reporting and Analysis: Provide detailed reports to clients on the success of publicity campaigns and suggest future strategies. Review Copies and Distribution: Mail review copies to media contacts and ensure timely delivery of materials. Essential Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Experience: 1 year of experience in public relations, communications, or a related field, preferably in the publishing or media industry. Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to think creatively and strategically, and excellent organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with Media Outlets: Familiarity with media outlets, including traditional and online publications, and a understanding of the media landscape. Preferred Qualifications Publishing Industry Experience: Experience working in the publishing industry, either in public relations, editorial, or marketing. Social Media Skills: Strong social media skills, including the ability to create engaging content and manage social media campaigns. Event Planning: Experience with event planning and coordination, including author events and book launches. What We Offer Competitive Salary: A competitive salary range of $24.00 to $28.75 per hour, based on experience and workplace location.
