Associate Director of Bioinformatics

Natera is currently seeking an Associate Director to join our Oncology Research Bioinformatics team. The individual will lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and be responsible for the planning and execution of exploratory research projects. The ideal candidate should be an experienced team leader with a strong background in algorithm and assay development, sequencing data processing, and experience with the full life cycle of product development. RESPONSIBILITIES:Envision, plan, and execute research strategies in collaboration with other cross-functional stakeholdersDrive the development of innovative algorithms on ultra-deep sequencing dataLead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and support their professional growthFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellenceWork closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineering, biostats, and molecular biology teams, to support the development of new productsLead assay development and optimization, and troubleshoot wetlab experiments through close collaboration with wetlab scientistsCommunicate findings clearly across all levels and functions of the company and act as a subject matter expertPrepare deliverables and present results to both internal and external collaboratorsPresent results at conferences and publish in top-tier journalsDevelop and improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including variant detection and quality control.Deploy analysis pipelines on the cloud and optimize resource utilizationQUALIFICATIONS:PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Biostatistics, or related fieldMinimum of 6-8 years of working in the bioinformatics field and extensive managerial and cross-functional experienceTrack record of leading and developing state-of-the-art and highly impactful computational methodsHighly experienced in algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learningExperience with multiplex PCR and hybrid capture dataExperience in PythonExperience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scriptsAbility to visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form for both technical and non-technical audiencesHigh scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biologyThe pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
