Assistant Underwriter - Casualty

QBE North America is seeking an Assistant Underwriter for their Casualty division. The role involves assessing and approving new insurance policies and renewals while ensuring compliance with underwriting criteria and service benchmarks. Responsibilities Review, evaluate and price business by applying underwriting judgment and adhering to regulations Contribute to the development and execution of the Business Plan Actively manage renewal portfolio and new business targets Monitor, review and comply with all underwriting standards, procedures and processes Provide a timely and professional level of service to customers and intermediaries Actively manage your portfolio and relationships with brokers and colleagues to achieve portfolio retention, growth and profitability targets Work collaboratively with Assistant Underwriters Build and foster a positive working environment Skills Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages Strong level of numeracy and literacy experience Problem solving experience – demonstrates tenacity in handling and resolving queries Moderate level of understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages Experience within the insurance industry, preferably commercial, whether that's underwriting, claims, operational or related areas may be advantageous Benefits 22 weeks of paid leave for family growth, with 12 weeks available to all parents on a gender-equal basis Competitive 401(k) program with company match up to 8% Well-being program including holistic wellbeing coaching, gym membership, confidential counselling, financial and legal advice Tuition Reimbursement for professional certifications, and continuing education Employee Network and Community – QBE actively supports six Employee Networks, and many ways to give back to your community Company Overview QBE North America is a global insurance leader focused on helping customers solve unique risks, so they can focus on what matters most.
