UTHealth Houston School of Public Health invites applicants to fill two assistant professor tenure-track faculty positions at the San Antonio location. The faculty will report to the San Antonio Regional Dean and their respective Department Chair (Biostatistics and Data Sciences; Epidemiology; Environmental Safety and Occupational Science; Management, Policy, and Community Health; or Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences).

Position Key Accountabilities:

The positions involve research, teaching, and community service. The successful candidates will conduct and execute research related to population health, community health, or clinical health initiatives, and collaborate with UTHealth Houston School of Public Health colleagues. The San Antonio location is especially interested in expanding its research focus on behavioral health interventions and welcomes applicants with applied, practical expertise in analytic methods suitable for enhancing research examining psychosocial, behavioral, structural, or environmental factors related to health outcomes as well as empirical research involving the development, implementation, and evaluation of health interventions.

Successful candidates will provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and post-doctoral students. Candidates will participate in classroom instruction and should be prepared to teach graduate-level classes. Teaching commitment will be agreed upon with Department Chair and the Curriculum Coordinator in the Department.

Qualifications:

(1) a doctorate with some focus in health, including psychology, psychiatry, sociology, health economics, public health, social work, health services research, community health, organizational science, etc.); 2) strong potential for independent research funding or track record of established independent research funding including NIH-funded grants (e.g., K-series or R-series); (3) commitment to excellence in teaching and advising graduate students

We are looking to hire faculty who have research expertise in these specific domains:

1. Addiction (e.g., substance abuse, gambling)

2. Occupational health (e.g., staff wellness, job burnout)

3. Behavioral health technologies (e.g., app-based interventions, ecological momentary assessments)

4. Social support interventions (e.g., addressing loneliness, family disintegration)

5. Causal inference methodologist (e.g., synthetic control methods)
