Job Summary
The Assistant Pool Manager - Seasonal position is a non-benefited, non-classified, non-merit system, at-will position. As an Assistant Pool Manager, you will work full-time during the Summer 2023 season (April 2023 through August 2023) and assist the Pool Manager in the operation of a municipal swimming pool and associated aquatics programs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in pool management, lifeguarding, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Pool Manager in the operation of a municipal swimming pool and associated aquatics programs
Determine staffing levels, prepare schedules, and assign personnel to duty stations
Observe pool attendance and add or shift Lifeguards to ensure proper coverage
Replenish supplies, direct training activities, and check pool chemicals
Monitor staff performance and take corrective action as needed
Teach courses in Lifeguard training and water safety, train volunteers, and maintain records
Prepare reports, direct the cleaning and maintenance of pool facilities, and implement special events
Ensure proper customer service and respond to customer inquiries
Essential Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED
Good experience (3-9 months) as a lifeguard and swimming instructor
Some experience (3-6 months) in directing activities at swimming pools (municipal or non-municipal)
Valid Class D Arizona Driver's License
Valid Lifeguard Certification, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer Certification, and a Swim Lesson Instructor (SLI) Certification, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent certification
Preferred Qualifications
Lifeguard Training Instructor Certification or equivalent
Skills and Competencies
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong leadership and management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions
Basic knowledge of pool operations and maintenance
Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment
