Assistant General Counsel - Practice Operations

We are looking for an Assistant General Counsel – Practice Operations to serve as the primary legal partner for day-to-day operational issues across our affiliated medical practices. In this role, you will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, practice managers, and the company’s Regional Vice Presidents who oversee practice operations. This is a hands-on, business-critical position with regular interaction across clinical, operational, and corporate teams β€” all from a fully remote setting. Job Description Operational Legal Support β€’ Serve as the go-to legal advisor for doctors, advanced practice providers, practice managers, and Regional Vice Presidents on operational and regulatory matters. β€’ Provide fast, clear, business-oriented legal advice that helps frontline teams keep clinics running smoothly. β€’ Navigate multi-state operational issues by delivering practical solutions that balance risk and efficiency. Contract Management β€’ Draft, review, and negotiate a steady stream of operational contracts, including vendor agreements, services contracts, supply chain deals, and equipment leases/purchases. β€’ Help streamline and standardize recurring vendor and operational contract terms. Real Estate & Leasing β€’ Lead the legal review of commercial leases for our nationwide clinic footprint, including new leases, renewals, amendments, and subleases. β€’ Prepare lease abstracts and coordinate with operations and finance on key dates and obligations. Employment & HR Support β€’ Partner with HR, Regional Vice Presidents, and practice leadership on employment needs: hiring, discipline, terminations, investigations, wage & hour issues, and FMLA/ADA matters. β€’ Draft and refine physician and advanced practice provider employment agreements, providing clear and efficient guidance to ensure alignment and timely finalization of terms. β€’ Partner with outside counsel on employment matters that develop into formal disputes, investigations, or litigation. Litigation & Disputes β€’ Manage threatened and active litigation, including employment disputes, commercial claims, and malpractice/professional liability matters. β€’ Work closely with outside counsel when matters escalate, providing strategic direction while managing spend and ensuring alignment with business priorities. Professional Board Matters β€’ With the involvement outside expert counsel, oversee responses to medical board, nursing board, and other licensing agency inquiries and investigations. β€’ Coordinate with compliance, risk, and clinical leadership to ensure accurate and timely submissions. Qualifications β€’ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. β€’ Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; eligibility for Florida Authorized House Counsel status if applicable. β€’ 6–8+ years of legal experience, preferably including in-house work with a multistate MSO, PPM, or other multisite healthcare services organization. β€’ Strong foundation in employment law, operational contracting, and litigation management. β€’ Experience advising doctors, clinical teams, or healthcare operations is strongly preferred. β€’ Exposure to healthcare regulatory or compliance matters (Stark, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, licensure issues) is a plus but not required. β€’ Confident communicator who can build trust with practices and operational leadership. β€’ Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving, fully remote environment. β€’ Practical, solutions-driven mindset β€” grounded, direct, and business-focused. A collaborative working style and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Additional Information Compensation & Benefits Integrated Dermatology offers competitive compensation and a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and more. Salary Range: $150K - $175K annually. This range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
