Artificial Intelligence Researcher (equity-only role)

We are seeking an exceptional Artificial Intelligence Researcher to join an early-stage venture building ambitious, integrity-driven AI systems with real-world impact. This is a founding-stage opportunity for someone motivated by ownership, long-term value creation, and shaping core intellectual property from the ground up. Important: This is an equity-only position. No salary, stipends, or cash compensation are offered at this time. What You’ll Do • Conduct original research across applied machine learning, reasoning systems, evaluation frameworks, and model alignment. • Design and test novel architectures, scoring systems, and experimental pipelines. • Translate research into production-ready systems in collaboration with engineering leadership. • Publish internal technical memos and contribute to patentable IP. • Help define long-term technical vision and research strategy. • Prototype fast, iterate relentlessly, and challenge assumptions. Who You Are • Strong background in machine learning, AI research, or related computational fields. • Comfortable working in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments. • Passionate about building foundational technology, not incremental features. • Independent thinker with rigorous technical standards. • Entrepreneurial mindset—you care about outcomes, not just models. Nice to Have • Experience with LLM systems, retrieval-augmented generation, or evaluation pipelines. • Prior research publications or advanced degrees. • Experience in startups or founding teams. • Systems engineering or MLOps familiarity.
