Position Summary:Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Application Cloud Engineer to support and enhance their cloud-based application infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you will collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to ensure seamless deployments, application reliability, and robust security. This position plays a critical role in maintaining cloud-native applications, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and improving cloud observability.Key Responsibilities:
Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using AWS CloudWatch and related observability tools
Collaborate with developers to containerize and deploy applications using ECS, Lambda, and ECR
Support multi-environment deployments (Dev, Staging, Prod) and ensure consistency across all stages
Implement deployment monitoring, rollback strategies, and manage version control for applications
Perform daily health checks using AWS CLI and scheduled Lambda scripts
Automate remediation and alerting based on application health and performance metrics
Support CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, etc.) for containerized application deployment
Document deployment processes, infrastructure architecture, and recovery plans
Implement secure and compliant deployment workflows, including automated code scans and approval gates
Remediate vulnerabilities at the OS, container, and application level
Orchestrate failover and recovery of AWS services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, databases)
Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities
Drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring accuracy, and incident logging
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and deployments
Proficient in Python, Bash, Node.js, and working with YAML/JSON
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, etc.) and container orchestration
Experience deploying and managing applications using ECS, Lambda, and ECR
Familiar with AWS CLI, CloudWatch, and cloud health monitoring best practices
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, autoscaling, and load balancing
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with FinOps, cost optimization, or license compliance in cloud environments
Knowledge of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes
AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect Associate)
Familiarity with ITIL practices or structured incident management frameworks
