Assists in the provision of patient care in a physician practice office/clinic under the direction of a (delete physician) registered nurse. Responsible for assisting medical providers and ensuring the efficient operation of the office/clinic by facilitating patient throughput and room turnover. A Brief Overview Assists in... the provision of patient care in a physician practice office/clinic under the direction of a (delete physician) registered nurse. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as requested by physician or other clinicians in the office or clinic setting. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may include setting up exam room, instruments, and other equipment. Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities as required. Education/Formal Training Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Technical Degree or Diploma Medical Assistant Work Experience Requirements 1-3 years Medical Assistant or similar Licenses and Certifications Requirements AAMA Certified Medical Assistant - The American Association of Medical Assistants Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) National Health Career Association Medical Assistant (NCMA) National Center for Competency Testing Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) National Association of Health Professionals Certified Medical Assistant National Phlebotomy Continuing Education AMT Registered Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists HEART SAVER - American Heart Association Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with patients, patient families, and physicians in a tactful and professional manner. Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job. Physical Demands The Physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination The physical requirements of this position are medium work- exerting up to 50 lbs. Of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. Of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and filed of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
