About the position

The Air Reservations Specialist is a crucial member of the Air Reservations & Support team at Globus family of brands, serving as the frontline support for the Air Department. This role is dedicated to providing exceptional air support for both new and existing air bookings, specifically for our US and Canadian Call Centers. The specialist will engage with customers primarily through phone and messaging, ensuring that all inquiries and requests are handled efficiently and effectively. In this position, the Air Reservations Specialist will be responsible for delivering support for airline ticket sales, service, and operations. This includes assisting guests and internal partners with airline reservations by processing new air requests, making revisions, and managing schedule changes. The role requires efficient communication with airline sales support desks and airline representatives, especially when assistance is needed or when problems arise. The specialist will also work within Sabre queues as necessary, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely manner. A key aspect of this role involves understanding and communicating specific airline and industry policies, as well as the business rules of Globus family of brands. This includes knowledge of air beyond 331 days, codeshare flights, system-generated error messages, and various air rules such as Flex and Instant Purchase (IP) rules. The specialist will also handle partial or full cancellations of air reservations, seat assignments, and be knowledgeable about airline penalties, taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges. Additionally, the role includes completing air ticketing, refunds, and exchanges, either manually or through third-party software, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers.

Responsibilities
• Deliver support for airline ticket sales, service, and operations to the call centers via phone queues, emails, and internal messaging
,
• Assist guests and internal partners with airline reservations by processing new air requests, revisions, and schedule changes
,
• Efficient communication with airline sales support desks and airline reps when assistance is needed, or problems arise
,
• Work Sabre queues as needed
,
• Understand and communicate specific airline and industry policies and GFOB business rules including, but not limited to: Air beyond 331 days, Codeshare flights, System generated error messages, Flex and Instant Purchase (IP) air rules, Deviations, Matching air between two or more bookings, Partial or full cancellations of the air reservation, Seat assignments, Airline penalties, taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges

• Complete air ticketing, refunds, and exchanges either manually or using third party software.

Requirements
• Technical and functional expertise with Globus Distribution Systems (GDS), preferably Sabre
,
• 1-3 years of experience with airline contracts, air operations, block space and/or inventory
,
• Working knowledge of domestic/international itineraries, faring rules and construction, air regulations and concepts
,
• Experience with Microsoft Office - including Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint Online
,
• Ability to be self-reliant, take initiative, and effectively resolve difficult client and guest issues independently
