Job Title: After-School Care Assistant
Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated After-School Care Assistant to join our team. The After-School Care Assistant will play a vital role in providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children after school hours. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
The After-School Care Assistant will be responsible for supervising children, assisting with homework, organizing recreational activities, and ensuring their overall well-being during after-school hours. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient, and have strong communication skills to interact effectively with both children and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities during after-school hours.
Assist children with homework and provide educational support as needed.
Organize and facilitate recreational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and games.
Ensure the safety and security of children at all times.
Encourage positive behavior and reinforce good manners and respect among children.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other staff members regarding the progress and behavior of children.
Maintain a clean and organized after-school environment.
Follow all safety regulations and guidelines for after-school care programs.
Assist with snack preparation and cleanup as needed.
Provide emotional support and guidance to children as they navigate social interactions.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or recreational setting is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent is required; coursework in child development, education, or a related field is a plus.
Ability to manage groups of children in a structured and supportive manner.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
Must pass a background check and meet any other licensing requirements as per state regulations.
Flexibility to work weekday afternoons and occasional evenings as needed.
