About the position
The Adult Education Instructor position is responsible for providing basic literacy instruction, GED preparation, and English as a Second Language to adult learners in Walsenburg, Colorado. This part-time role involves creating an inclusive classroom environment, tracking student progress, and engaging learners with diverse skill levels. The instructor will work collaboratively with other staff to achieve program goals and support students in their educational journey.
Responsibilities
Create an inclusive, welcoming classroom environment

Support learners through initial enrollment and testing
,
Track student attendance and progress
,
Strive for 75% or better retention by maintaining good communication with students
,
Work toward requirement of 44% of all learners achieving a skill level gain measured from pre-test to post-test
,
Engage students with a range of skill levels using a variety of proven teaching skills and motivation strategies while meeting the needs of individual learning styles
,
Perform daily record-keeping and data reporting responsibilities
,
Participate in staff meetings and professional development offerings
,
Work collaboratively with other instructors and with program director on student progress to achieve program goals
,
Oversee distance learning programs and offer remote tutoring as needed by students
,
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Associate's degree or equivalent
,
Ability to work independently and deliver high quality instruction to adult learners
,
Good organizational skills and a positive attitude
