Job description: The Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at Marquette University is seeking candidates for an Adjunct Professor position available to support our online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program beginning August 2025. Candidates must be able to teach graduate-level counseling courses with a focus on clinical mental health counseling. This position may be a remote position.Situated in the College of Education, the Department consists of eleven faculty members and offers master's degrees on-campus and online in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling that are CACREP-accredited (see ).Marquette University is a Catholic, Jesuit University with 8,400 undergraduate and 3,300 graduate and professional students across a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The university and department support community engagement in teaching, research, and service.Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the department Chair the individual will perform some or all of the following duties:Teach online graduate courses in clinical mental health counselingFacilitate and teach an approved course of study with measurable objectives and student outcomes for the course taughtEvaluate student learning using appropriate assessment methods and Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology program evaluation systemUpdate course content based on student feedback, instructional effectiveness, and emerging evidence-based practicesEffectively and accurately participate in the Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology assessment and accreditation (i.e., CACREP) process, including gathering and reviewing required materialsCommunicate concerns about student behavior to Director of Counselor Education or Department Chair and contribute to department gatekeeping policies as neededMaintain a student-oriented approach to educationMaintain currency and improve professionally in the content and pedagogy of courses taughtDevelop positive relationships with colleagues and support collegialityUphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGraduation from a CACREP accredited institution with a doctoral degree in counselor education or a related educational field (i.e., applicants may be all but dissertation, although the defense date must be set and a there should be a planned date of graduation); have experience in clinical mental health counselingKnowledge of content and skills for clinical mental health counseling methodsThe ability to teach core knowledge and skills for clinical mental health counselingExcellent communication skills and ability to relate well with students, colleagues and administrationPreferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGraduation from a CACREP accredited institution with a doctoral degree in counselor education; have extensive experience in clinical mental health counselingSuccessful college/university level teaching experience in an online programCommitment to social justice and serving underserved or marginalized populationsExtensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be taughtAbility and willingness to follow written and oral procedures and instructionsSkill in written and oral communication
