Accountant – Farmers Life Insurance Company (Remote)

LFarmers Life Insurance Company (FLIC)** is a fast-growing, Tennessee-domiciled life insurer focused on fixed annuities (MYGAs, FIAs) with expanding reinsurance partnerships. We are building our Finance team and seeking an **Accountant** with strong Stat/GAAP experience who can support our monthly close, reinsurance, investments, and annuity operations. This is a **fully remote role** working closely with our small, collaborative accounting team. ## **Key Responsibilities** • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close for **Statutory and GAAP** reporting. • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules. • Perform **bank reconciliations** and reconcile **large data sets** from admin, investment, and reinsurance systems. • Assist with NAIC statutory filings (Blue Book, RBC). • Support accounting for fixed annuity products (premiums, interest crediting, DAC, reserves). • Prepare reinsurance settlements for coinsurance, funds-withheld, and modco agreements. • Record and reconcile investment activity across custodians and managers. • Participate in process improvements, audits, and cross-functional projects. ## **Qualifications** • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. • **2–5+ years of insurance accounting experience** (life/annuity preferred). • Strong knowledge of **SSAP** and familiarity with GAAP. • **Monthly close + bank reconciliation experience required**. • Comfortable working with large, complex data sets. • Experience with MYGAs/FIAs or reinsurance a plus. • **CPA preferred** (active or in progress). • Strong Excel skills; detail-oriented; proactive; able to work in a small-team environment. ## **Why Join FLIC?** • Fully remote role • Competitive compensation + bonus • Health, dental, vision, and 401(k) • Significant growth and responsibility as the company scales Apply tot his job
