HIRING RANGE: $18.50 – 19.50/hour

Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Data Analyst Student will be responsible for documenting business intelligence data for performance metrics, collaborating with departments to understand data needs, collecting and analyzing data to identify trends, and finding opportunities to streamline and improve business processes.

Responsibilities

Administrative Support
• Documentation of current business intelligence data gathering for performance metrics (Transfer Payment requirements)
• Working closely with different departments, such as IT, finance, and marketing, to understand their data needs.
• Collecting data from various sources, including internal systems and external databases.
• Analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions and potential changes in current business processes
• Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve business processes for efficiency, collaboration, and further analysis.

Data Enhancements / Cleansing
• Utilizing internal and external tools and databases to match records, and update missing data and update account records, accordingly, focus on account cleansing (account names, firm sizes, sector classifications, firm sizes, account status, WSIB Account Numbers, etc.)
• Review of matched records identified during a data integration activity between systems, complete analysis, and related research to support population of missing date
• Apply WSPS data governance standards relating to accounts
• Working closely with the Data Governance Specialist, support, monitor and report back on data cleansing activities

CONTRIBUTES TO A HEALTHY AND SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT (at all times)
• Complies with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and company rules established in WSPS Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
• Contributes to promoting a healthy, safe, and respectful culture
• Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations

Skills, Knowledge, Expertise

Minimum
• Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of post secondary studies preferably in Data Science or Data Analytics
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Demonstrates a proactive and self-motivated approach to work

Preferred
• Previous working experience in an administrative capacity considered an asset

Additional Requirements
• Candidates are required to reside in Ontario, maintain a private and safe workspace, and have a high-quality internet connection.
• To support success in building connections, inclusion and collaboration, a minimum level of in person presence for the purposes of meetings is required for all team members on a quarterly basis.
• An all-employee meeting (Staff Days or equivalent) will be organized annually. All employees are required to attend the annual meeting in person. Occasional team meetings may be required in person.
