About the position

The Y Teen L.I.F.E. Program Assistant at the Langham Creek YMCA is responsible for implementing youth-centric programming that fosters leadership development, college access, career readiness, and civic engagement among teens. The role involves designing and executing daily activities, supervising participants, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for youth development.

Responsibilities
• Implement curriculum within established guidelines to ensure program quality.
,
• Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans for teen leadership experiences.
,
• Lead participants in the successful completion of all program aspects.
,
• Facilitate leadership development opportunities for all participants.
,
• Maintain required program records and adhere to safety and cleanliness standards.
,
• Supervise teens under the direction of the Program Director or Manager.
,
• Act as a role model by exemplifying the YMCA's core values.
,
• Maintain communication with participants and engage parents effectively.
,
• Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
,
• Report suspicious behaviors and adhere to child abuse prevention policies.

Requirements
• Minimum age of 21 years and/or 5 years older than the oldest participant.
,
• High school diploma or GED.
,
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training.
,
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate program activities.
,
• Previous experience with diverse populations.
,
• Current tuberculosis examination record and compliance with local health regulations.
,
• Pass a local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check, as well as a drug test.
,
• Clear record to operate YMCA buses.

Nice-to-haves
• Prior childcare or babysitting experience is preferred.
