Job Summary and Key Responsibilities The Department of Foreign Languages at Weber State University is seeking a World Language Assistant to provide tutoring and support to students in our tutoring space located in Elizabeth Hall, room 244. As a World Language Assistant, you will be responsible for: Tutoring and assisting students with coursework and conversation in the target language Serving as a general resource for language students, providing guidance and support as needed Conducting tutoring sessions in person or virtually, as required Collaborating with faculty members to identify areas where students need additional support Developing and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment Essential Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following essential qualifications: Be enrolled in Weber State University during the semester in which you are hired Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and a grade of B+ or higher in all upper-division language classes Demonstrate Advanced Low level proficiency on the ACTFL scale in the target language, as judged by department faculty Enroll in EDUC 2920 B and complete the course during the first semester of hiring Be available to work 3-6 hours per week between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly preferred: Pursuing a major or minor in the language of study Having experience teaching or tutoring foreign languages What We Offer As a World Language Assistant at Weber State University, you will have the opportunity to: Gain valuable experience in language instruction and tutoring Develop your skills and confidence in a supportive and inclusive environment Collaborate with faculty members and contribute to the university's mission Enjoy a competitive hourly pay rate of $12.00 Benefit from a dynamic and diverse work environment that values creativity and uniqueness Work Environment and Company Culture Weber State University is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes belonging.
