WordPress Developer for Custom Website

Remote Full-time
We are looking for a skilled and experienced WordPress developer to join our team for ongoing web development projects. The ideal candidate should have at least 5+ years of hands-on experience building, customizing, and maintaining WordPress websites — including custom theme and plugin development, performance optimization, and security best practices. In this role, you will be responsible for developing custom WordPress themes and child themes from scratch or based on design mockups, building and customizing plugins to extend site functionality, and implementing responsive, mobile-first designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You will also be expected to optimize website speed, performance, and SEO, integrate third-party APIs and services such as payment gateways and CRMs, and troubleshoot issues across themes, plugins, and server configurations. Experience working with popular page builders like Elementor or WPBakery is also expected, along with WooCommerce store setup and management when applicable. To be successful in this role, you should have strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/jQuery. You should be comfortable working with the WordPress REST API, WP-CLI, and MySQL database management. Familiarity with Git version control, responsive design principles, and cross-browser compatibility is essential. Good communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently are a must. It would be a bonus if you have experience with headless WordPress setups using React or Next.js, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), custom post types, Gutenberg block development, or server management tools like cPanel and SSH. WooCommerce development experience is also a plus. This is an ongoing project expected to last 3 to 6 months, with approximately 20 to 40 hours of work per week. We are looking for someone at an intermediate to expert level. Candidates comfortable working in US timezone are preferred. Please share 2 to 3 examples of custom WordPress sites you have built along with your proposal.
