Web Designer - CAA Technology, College of Architecture, Design,& the Arts
The University of Illinois Chicago is a prominent urban public research institution serving a diverse student body. They are seeking a Web Designer to lead the development and management of web-based infrastructure for the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts, utilizing platforms like Drupal and WordPress.ResponsibilitiesSupport/manage existing web-based infrastructure utilizing Drupal, WordPress and current web technologies JavaScript, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, SSL, and Apache, among othersTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to website functionality, performance, and usabilityCollaborate with other members of the development team to ensure the website meets organizational goals and is aligned with the overall digital strategyMaintain websites and web servers with security updates, patching, backups, optimizations, memory utilization , management, and other necessary maintenance tasks as neededManage the deployment of new servers and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline development processesDevelop and design new web-based applications and featuresProvide consultation and implementation of designs for new and existing web sitesCoordinate and oversee web marketing initiatives, utilizing platforms such as Google Ads across all CADA websitesMonitor web traffic for optimization and analysis. Utilize Google Analytics for data collection and analysisConduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessmentsIncorporate SEO best practices to enhance search engine visibility and rankingsCreate and maintain documentation for web infrastructure and applications, including standard operating procedures and user manualsStay up to date with emerging web technologies and trends and recommend ways to incorporate these into the organization's web presenceWork with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of web-based projectsParticipate in project planning, estimating, and scoping activities to ensure the timely and successful delivery of web-based projectsPerform other related duties and participate in special projects as assignedSkillsBachelor Degree - Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, related information management field of studyMinimum of one (1) year professional level IT experience within Web UX Design & Administration which includes Web Administration, UI/UX design, maintenance of web pages and applicationsEnsure that application(s) are compatible across multiple platforms and browsersMay also maintain and monitor website functionality and/or website securityCollaborates with internal and/or external resources to maintain current organization's information1+ years of professional experience in IT Development / Web, including experience with Drupal and WordPress websitesExperience with front-end development technologies and methodologiesExperience with responsive web design and mobile-first developmentStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issuesExperience working with version control systems such as GitExperience with website performance optimization and website security best practicesAbility to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented codeBenefitsHealthDentalVisionLife InsuranceA Retirement PlanPaid time OffTuition waivers for employees and dependentsCompany OverviewUIC is Chicago's largest university with more than 33,000 students, 12,000 employees, 16 colleges and a major public medical center.
