VP of People + Culture, West Coast

The VP, People & Culture oversees and leads all Human Resources–related functions within the region, including but not limited to talent acquisition and retention, workforce planning, employee relations, training and development, performance management, recognition programs, compliance, and colleague engagement. The role balances hands-on operational support with strategic leadership, ensuring policies, programs, and practices meet the evolving needs of the business, our colleagues, and our guests, while remaining fully compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws. Key Responsibilities Include: • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all People & Culture functions across the West Coast region. • Partner with Regional Leaders, General Managers, and Corporate Leadership to align people strategies with business objectives. • Lead, mentor, and develop regional and property-level P&C leaders to ensure consistent, high-quality HR support. • Oversee recruitment, retention, and workforce planning strategies to support operational needs in a competitive hospitality labor market. • Ensure effective employee relations practices, including coaching leaders through complex colleague issues, investigations, and performance management. • Guide the administration of compensation, benefits, recognition, and engagement programs to attract and retain top talent. • Drive training and development initiatives to build leadership capability and strengthen bench strength across the region. • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies, proactively mitigating risk. • Champion colleague engagement, culture-building initiatives, and change management efforts across the region. • Serve as a visible, trusted leader who is regularly present in the field and connected to property-level operations. KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including senior-level leadership in a multi-unit environment; hospitality or hotel experience strongly preferred. • 5+ years leading regional or enterprise People & Culture teams, partnering directly with executive and operational leadership. • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred. • Proven ability to act as a strategic advisor to executives, regional leaders, and General Managers, influencing decisions through sound judgment and business insight. • Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading high-performing People & Culture teams in fast-paced, service-driven environments. • Strong capability to set strategic direction while remaining closely connected to hotel operations. • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. • Demonstrates excellent judgment, discretion, and professionalism, maintaining confidentiality at all times. • Results-oriented leader who thrives under pressure while maintaining a hospitality-focused, people-first approach. Additional Qualifications: • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred. • This role is based in California and supports hotels across the West Coast region. Regular travel is required. • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check in compliance with applicable laws. The base salary range for this role is $210,000-$225,000. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus and comprehensive benefits.
