This is your chance to be part of building a generational company. YOUR MISSION Knowunity is on a mission to become the #1 AI learning companion for 1 billion students. We're looking for an exceptional VP Engineering to help us make Knowunity one of Europe’s fastest, highest-quality shipping tech organizations. You define and implement the company’s technology roadmap aligned with business growth and market expansion together with the founders. You lead by example with hands-on technical contributions (especially in AI), while building the operating system that drives delivery discipline, shortens release cycles, motivates engineers, sets visible milestones, and clear accountability across a team of 20-30 strong engineering colleagues. What success looks like: Significantly improve our engineering operating cadence: planning, release rhythm, on-call, incident management, postmortems… Set and drive the technology roadmap aligned to product and growth goals together with the Leadership Team. Raise quality: define performance, and reliability with measurable SLOs. Build and mentor a high-performing team; hire and develop top notch engineers. Ensure a transparent release rhythm and metrics to measure performance, shipped features, quality and delivery timelines. Partner closely with Product and Design to ensure strategy and execution stay tightly aligned. Ship core product flows that impact millions of students daily. Leverages AI - as a force multiplier in everything you do Values excellence over comfort mediocrity isn’t in your vocabulary Your track record Proven track record in hypergrowth environments, ideally consumer-facing products. Experience shipping at scale, you love to actually build! Entrepreneurial mindset: Former founder or early team member who thrives in ambiguity, makes decisive calls, and is driven by outcomes rather than process. Hands-on tech leader: Deep technical expertise, still enjoys coding and building. Comfortable splitting time between org leadership and code. Communication: Strong communicator who can align, develop & motivate teams with clarity and confidence. Must-Haves Experience hiring and motivating engineering teams in high-growth environments. Strong interest in applying AI to real-world use cases, with experience embedding AI into products. Fluent English Ready to work from our Berlin office 4 days/week (with some flexibility!) Our Tech Stack Our app is written in Flutter with Riverpod. Our Golang backend is powered by PostgreSQL and hosted on AWS with Kubernetes. Our AI stack consists of several LLM providers (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, Mistral), custom routing engines, and fine-tuned models. Our data stack consists of BigQuery and dbt.
