VP / Deputy General Counsel – Litigation & Intellectual Property (Remote) (914-SLS)
Our client, a high-growth pharmaceutical company in the compounding space, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal in its search for a Vice President / Deputy General Counsel – Litigation & Intellectual Property (Remote). This attorney will report directly to the General Counsel and play a senior leadership role, shaping the company’s litigation and IP strategy and ensuring readiness for future growth.
The VP/DGC – Litigation & IP will oversee high-profile litigation, direct the company’s intellectual property protection strategy, and act as a key advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders. The role also includes leading a team responsible for litigation management, employment disputes, and IP protection.
Responsibilities include:
• Leading strategy and decision-making on complex, high-stakes litigation.
• Managing outside counsel relationships, budgets, and litigation outcomes.
• Overseeing IP protection and enforcement, including trade secrets, proprietary formulations, and brand/trademark issues.
• Proactively managing legal risks across business lines.
• Advising leadership on litigation posture and risk mitigation.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a litigation/IP-focused legal team.
Requirements include:
• J.D. degree and bar membership in at least one U.S. state (Texas in-house eligibility required).
• 12+ years of experience, with a strong litigation foundation and IP exposure.
• Demonstrated success leading litigation strategy and managing outside counsel.
• Experience protecting intellectual property in a regulated or healthcare environment strongly preferred.
• Strong judgment and ability to operate in high-stakes, fast-paced environments.
The targeted base salary range is $300,000 – $320,000, with an annual bonus and equity participation. Actual compensation will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and directly relevant experience. This role can be performed remotely with travel to Houston for leadership and team meetings.
