Volunteer Course Developer/Instructional Designer
Role Summary:
As a volunteer Course Developer/Instructional Designer, you will take existing manuals or core content and structure them into a comprehensive, multistage learning course. This will include instructional modules, testing, and real world examples to ensure effective learning outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for education and innovation, and an ability to break down complex information into accessible and engaging learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
⢠Analyse existing manuals or core content and convert it into a structured, learner friendly course format.
⢠Develop a multistage course that includes instructional content, testing mechanisms (quizzes, assessments), and reallife examples or case studies.
⢠Create engaging and interactive learning materials (e.g., presentations, videos, workbooks, and multimedia content).
⢠Ensure content is broken down into manageable stages for gradual learning and skill acquisition.
⢠Implement best practices in instructional design to ensure content is clear, engaging, and accessible.
⢠Develop and implement assessments at various stages of the course to track learner progress.
⢠Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and aligned with the goals of GSI.
⢠Integrate learning technologies or tools to enhance the learning experience, such as LMS platforms and interactive content.
Skills & Experience Required:
⢠Proven experience in instructional design, course development, or training programme creation.
⢠Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and eLearning tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Moodle, or similar platforms).
⢠Proficiency in designing assessments, quizzes, and interactive content for multistage courses.
⢠Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional methodologies.
⢠Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate complex content into accessible and engaging learning materials.
⢠Experience with userfriendly UI/UX design for learning platforms.
Desirable Skills (but not essential):
⢠Experience with gamification or interactive learning techniques to engage learners.
⢠Knowledge of accessibility standards for eLearning.
⢠Familiarity with SEO for course visibility and learner engagement.
