About the Opportunity We're looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide virtual educational services to a cyber school student in Oregon. As a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you'll have the flexibility to work from home while making a real difference in the life of a student. Key Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, tailored to their individual needs and goals. Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students' educational needs and develop strategies to support their learning. Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the student's unique requirements. Adapt materials and teaching strategies to accommodate visual impairments, ensuring that the student has equal access to the curriculum. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes socialization, confidence, and academic achievement. Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless support for the student. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education with a focus on Visual Impairments or a related field. Valid Oregon certification in Visual Impairment or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals. Computer proficiency, including solid typing skills and the ability to navigate digital platforms and tools. Reliable wi-fi/internet access and a distraction-free work environment that ensures high-quality virtual instruction. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications will be considered advantageous: Experience working with students with visual impairments, either in a traditional classroom setting or virtually. Previous experience providing virtual-based services, including familiarity with digital tools and platforms used in online education. A proven track record of developing and implementing effective IEPs and adapting curriculum materials to meet the needs of students with visual impairments.
