About the TeamThe Virtual Preparatory Academy of Arizona is a K-10 tuition-free online public school in the state of Arizona. At VPA Arizona, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.We are seeking teachers who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. ACCEL Schools uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods. Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.Eligibility: Open to residents of ArizonaAbout the OpportunityServe as the teacher of record and primary instructorRelentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture as well as state specific academic accountability goalsDeliver highly effective live lessons via web conference based on student need, rooted in research-based instructional practicesComplete course set up for each course within the Learning Management SystemMonitor student progress in asynchronous courses and provide feedback/grade assignments dailyTrack and maintain contact with each studentCollaborate with Principal to create and deliver Progress Reports of StudentsReview student level data frequently to inform instructional program adjustmentsDifferentiate instruction to meet the needs of all studentsUtilize research-based best practices in both synchronous and asynchronous instructionCreate a joyful, caring, and loving classroom environment for all studentsIntegrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleaguesImplement school-wide culture expectations and norms, inside the classroom and beyondCommunicate regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their childIncorporate 21st century technology skills into daily classroom practice and team settingsParticipate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips and attend these events in personCollaborate and communicate effectively, humbly, and respectfully with all colleaguesTravel to support required face to face state testing annuallyPerform other duties as assignedAbout YouCurrent state teaching license in appropriate content areaMust have an SEI (Structured English Immersion) EndorsementKnowledge of State Standards and Common Core StandardsPreferred two years’ experience teachingHigh level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoringHigh quality written and verbal communication skillsHigh proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and OutlookAbility to properly manage confidential informationAbility to stand for up to 90 minutes at a timeAbility to supervise students in all school settingsAbility to pass federal and state criminal background checks Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferredAbout Us“We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.” – Ron Packard, CEO & FounderACCEL Schools is a network of 80+ high-performing, public charter schools serving PK-12 students.
