Position Summary

The Virginia Debt Resolution Attorney Manager will be responsible for the daily management of a team of Debt Resolution Attorneys. This individual will play a key role in recruiting and developing attorneys, ensuring performance meets expectations, and all activities are aligned with the company’s Policies & Procedures and Service-Level Agreements.

The ideal candidate will be a player-coach with strong expertise in Debt Resolution program oversight, who actively contributes to the completion of department deliverables while providing effective guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and maintain positive team morale.

The Debt Resolution Attorney Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations.

Key Objectives and Essential Responsibilities

• Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of Debt Resolution Attorneys.

• Conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide coaching and constructive feedback to attorneys.

• Communicate regularly with attorneys to reinforce firm core values, ensuring ethical and compliant legal oversight of client programs.

• Collaborate with various departments to ensure that all attorney activities align with the organization’s objectives.

• Escalate attorney challenges and compliance matters to identify workflow inefficiencies, mitigate risks, and ensure prompt resolution.

• Enhance, implement, and manage attorney processes and procedures using policy management software.

• Implement quality assurance controls to ensure attorney deliverables meet performance expectations and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and key metrics.

• Achieve goals by monitoring, reviewing, and enforcing company policies and procedures, while contributing to data analysis and reporting.

• Collaborate regularly with the Director of Operations, management team, and administrative support staff.

• Work with the Operations team to manage program escalations and serve as a liaison between Operations, Legal, Paralegal, Negotiation, and Customer Service departments.

• Partner with the training department to implement, update, and maintain attorney training resources and materials.

• Foster a collaborative and supportive culture that aligns with the firm’s values and goals.

Job Requirements

• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate and present complex legal concepts to non-legal team members.

• Ability to maintain quality standards, service-level agreements, and attorney excellence.

• Analytical aptitude, including forecasting, risk analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and data extraction and analysis.

• Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of fostering relationships, building morale, and maintaining a positive work environment.

• Organizational ability and attention to detail, including tracking metrics, delegating department deliverables, increasing efficiency and productivity, and creating and enforcing effective policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

REQUIRED:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• Licensed and in good standing with the Virginia state bar.

• 5 years of experience practicing law.

• 5 years of Debt Resolution program oversight.

• 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

• Strong knowledge of legal industry rules and regulations pertaining to collections, debt defense, and debt settlement, including but not limited to FDCPA and FCRA.

• Solid knowledge of rules regulating attorney ethics and standards of practice.
