MUFG Innovation Partners (MUIP) serves as the Corporate Venture Capital arm of the MUFG Group, established in 2019 to drive the group’s open innovation agenda. Our primary objective is to foster collaboration between domestic and international startups and MUFG group entities through strategic investments. Specializing in financial services and software technologies, we aim to cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships that propel the growth of both our startups and the MUFG group. Over the past five years, our investment activities have positioned us as one of Japan’s largest and most dynamic Corporate Venture Capitalists, with a prominent presence in the global banking sector. We are currently seeking a Research Associate to join our Investment team. This role entails conducting in-depth research on technology markets and companies and generating insightful reports to guide MUIP in identifying emerging trends within our industry. The ideal candidate will be tasked with developing a proactive viewpoint and presenting insights that are not only descriptive but also prescriptive in nature. The research findings will be disseminated and utilized internally within the MUFG group as well as shared with external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: • Utilize startup databases, events, and other relevant sources to analyze proprietary data sets and compile reports on fintech and related technology developments pertinent to MUFG. • Generate forward-thinking analyses and insights to produce data-driven reports on fintech, technology, and startup trends. • Communicate research findings within the MUFG group with external stakeholders as needed Requirements: • Deep passion and knowledge in technology investment, venture capital, and early-stage innovation within financial services. • Demonstrated writing experience in the aforementioned fields, with the ability to distill complex concepts into actionable insights.
