We are seeking an experienced Mandarin instructor to join our Startalk Program team. The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality online Mandarin language instruction to high school students in the Startalk Program. The program includes pre-camp and post-camp instruction, curriculum design, and assignment grading.

In-State: This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah

Responsibilities


Deliver Online Instruction during two periods of time: (pre-camp: 02/01/2024~05/31/2024) and (post-camp: 07/15/2024~10/05/2024). Totaling 30 hours of instruction in pre-camp and 30 hours of instruction in post-camp Instruction.
Conduct online language instruction for 8-10 high school students in accordance with the program curriculum.
Provide engaging and interactive lessons that align with ACTFL language proficiency standards.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation.
Design high effective and engaged online curriculum with activities and games to increase students? engagement and motivation.
Develop and design curriculum materials that align with program goals and objectives.
Deliver comprehensive and structured lessons to prepare students for the residential camp.
Utilize educational technology tools and apps to enhance the learning experience.
Incorporate authentic materials and technology tools to enhance language acquisition.
Grade assignments, provide feedback, and assess student performance throughout the program.
Effective communication with students, parents and colleagues
Ensure assignments and assessments are meaningful and aligned with program outcomes.

Qualifications


Minimum of five years full-time secondary school Mandarin teaching experience as a world language teacher.
Proficient in teaching intermediate and advanced levels of Mandarin Chinese.
Familiarity with educational technology tools and apps, such as Google Classroom, Google/MS Office suite, Nearpod, Quizlet, ChatGPT, etc.
Strong understanding of ACTFL language proficiency standards.
Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
