Olympic College is recruiting a fulltime, tenure track faculty to teach courses in a new Construction Trades Program in Shelton, Washington. Preparation and planning begin Fall quarter 2023 and classes will begin winter 2024. The 44-credit Certificate of Completion Program is designed to prepare students for a career in the residential and light construction industry. Coursework will include Introduction to the Construction Industry, Residential Print Reading, Foundations and Floor Framing, Wall and Roof Framing and Construction, Interior and Exterior Finishing, and Stairway Design and Construction.

Essential Functions


Develop a list and specifications of required start-up and ongoing materials and equipment required.
Develop and nurture partnerships with local employers and construction union representatives.
Teach a wide range of Construction Trades Technology courses.
Teach Shelton evening, distance, and day courses when required.
Provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record keeping.
Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested.
Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities.
Provide student advising for career pathways, mentoring, and support.
Contribute to the assessment of student learning outcomes.
Maintain punctual communication with students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Maintain physical office hours for student consultation.
Attend faculty, department, and division meetings.
Serve on appropriate college and community committees.
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree in Construction Trades Technology or related field
OR equivalent work experience in the construction trades.
Five years of successful experience working in a leadership position in Construction Trades Technology
Ability to work collaboratively with community, employers, and union representatives.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in construction technology management or related field
Successful teaching experience
Competency based curriculum development experience.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
