Mott Middle College is responsible for working under the direction of the classroom teacher assisting students during the learning process. The Teacher Assistant is a highly motivated college student that will provide support to classroom teachers and students at Mott Middle College. They will assist with creating an engaging and effective learning environment for students. As a TA, you will support teachers in fostering academic growth, and promoting student success within the high school setting. Essential Duties: * Assists with providing individual and small group tutoring on a variety of subjects as directed by the classroom teacher. Assists with providing in-classroom support for students working on individual assignments and projects. Assists with creating and attending field trips and Community-based learning assignments. Assists with logistical aspects of classroom setup and maintenance. Assists with proctoring examinations and standardized tests. Assists with communicating classroom needs with the main office and counseling office. Assists with monitoring students' academic needs in the classroom and discusses these needs with the classroom teacher. Assists with clerical tasks. Assists with keeping students on-task during direct instruction and individual work-time. Assists with lesson preparation and classroom set up, as appropriate. Other Duties: * Performs routine tasks necessary to carry out assigned responsibilities. Assists with other relevant duties as assigned by the classroom teacher. Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma required. Required college course enrollment. Associates degree or higher preferred. Experience: One or more years of work experience with adolescence is preferred. Relevant work experience in the content area preferred. Skills/Other: Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Exhibits self-control, mature judgment, congeniality, and ethical standards in all working relationships. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
