Accountabilities The Artist in Residence, Teacher of Voice is a yearly renewable position. The annual term of service is 9 months. Artist in Residence Responsibilities: Assist with student recruitment and assess admissions portfolios Participate in student advising as relevant, and additional duties as needed. Build and sustain a successful program for teaching students who desire voice lessons, with the breadth of application in mind, including students participating in University Chorus, acapella groups, musical theater, opera, and willing to address additional needs and interests as they arise Prepare students for Junior and Senior Recitals Commitment to continued growth in a national/international career as a vocal artist Commitment to outreach and collaborations with Department of Music Faculty and University Ensemble Directors Support the Music Department's commitment to inclusivity and empowering students by exploring and realizing collaborative possibilities beyond the department, with a focus on interdisciplinary arts initiatives, cultural events, and cross-disciplinary opportunities Actively support the evolving interests of the vocally oriented student groups on campus. Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain off campus musical relationships Teacher of Voice Responsibilities: Teach voice lessons to students, focusing on vocal techniques, breathing exercises, pitch control, and performance skills. Develop and implement lesson plans catering to students' needs and skill levels. Select appropriate vocal repertoire and musical pieces for students to work on during lessons and performances. Stay updated with current trends and developments in vocal pedagogy and incorporate innovative teaching methods into lessons. Prepare students for Junior and Senior Recitals Requirements Professional Experience/ Qualifications Artist in Residence Qualifications: Significant professional performing experience as a vocalist Significant experience teaching voice at the college level Master's degree in music, voice performance or related field Teacher of Voice Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in voice is required Master's degree in music, voice performance or related field preferred Proven experience as a vocal instructor, preferably at the collegiate level or equivalent professional experience. Strong vocal proficiency and a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of vocal styles, languages, and genres. Ability to effectively communicate and work with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels Familiarity with current and evolving vocal pedagogy research and techniques.
