Reports to: Assistant Principal for Instruction Function: The Paraprofessional helps the classroom teacher provide instruction, serves as a tutor when needed, and helps establish a learning environment by working with students on specific activities and performing tasks that aid the teacher. Duties: Maintain professional relationship with staff and students. Supervise students in non-instruction activities. Reinforce learning in small groups. Conduct teacher-prepared lessons with small groups. Assist in educational demonstration. Establish positive working relationship with students. Carry out instructional activities as planned by the teacher. Read materials and tests to students, as needed. Assist students with make-up work, when necessary. Implement behavior management plan (observe, record, chart strategies using the same emphasis and techniques as the teacher). Assist teacher with crises and behavior management. Provide feedback and reinforcement to students on their performance consistent with teacher's behavior management plan. Assist the teacher in classroom behavior management as designated by the teacher. Carry out teacher's plans for the student. Under the direction of the supervisory teacher, become aware of each student's unique learning style. Under the direction of the supervisory teacher, become familiar with each student's physical and psychological report and social history. Manage class material inventory. Set up and store instructional materials. Create/prepare instructional materials. Maintain audio-visual equipment. Terms of Employment: Full-time, ten-month work year (180 days of school including student attendance days, staff institutes, and parent/teacher conference days) Starting wage is $17.50-$19.25/hour based on education and verified experience 55-minute paid lunch break (45 minutes on Wednesdays) Sick and personal days Generous fringe benefits as provided by the current Annual evaluation is on the basis of job performance.
