We are a growing, high-volume bookkeeping firm serving 80–100 active clients. We are seeking a CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) to lead the review of both monthly bookkeeping and client tax returns, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and client readiness. This is a long-term, part-time role designed for a senior professional who thrives on precision and leadership.

Position Details

Role: CPA / EA Tax & Bookkeeping Reviewer

Rate: $40–$70/hr

Commitment: 15–20 hours/week

Schedule: Primarily during weeks 3–4 of each month, with flexibility during tax season

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough review of monthly books for 80–100 clients, verifying reconciliations, classifications, and tax-related entries

- Audit and review client tax returns prepared by bookkeepers, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations

- Identify discrepancies, errors, or opportunities for tax optimization

- Provide expert, actionable feedback and guidance to bookkeepers to improve quality and efficiency

- Serve as a subject-matter expert on complex accounting and tax matters for the team

- Ensure all client deliverables, including books and returns, are accurate, compliant, and client-ready

Requirements

- Licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA)

- 3-5+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, with demonstrated expertise in tax review and compliance

- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Amazon) and payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, Square)

- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and judgment for complex accounting/tax scenarios

- Strong communication skills to provide clear, professional feedback to a bookkeeping team

- Availability during the last two weeks of each month; additional flexibility during tax season preferred
